BACKSET
In the United States, there are two common backsets for locks. For tubular locks, they are 2-3/8" and 2-3/4". For mortise locks, they are 2.50" or 2.75". The backset is the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the face bore hole(s). We will pack your locks with the correct latch(es) depending on which backset you select. Dummy sets have no latch so you can install a dummy set wherever you choose on the door. Please see our Door Preparation Help page for more details.
